Undergraduate Research Opportunities Related to PNP

On-campus Resources

The links below lead to a variety of different resources for PNP students who are interested in doing undergraduate research. Some will help you find on-campus labs to work in during your undergraduate studies. Others point the way to summer research positions or post-baccalaureate fellowships further afield. A few might have leads for internships, or research jobs PNP majors will be well qualified for after completing their degree.

Some students have success getting into Wash U psych labs by reaching out and asking if they have volunteer spots for PNP majors.

 

The department of Psychological and Brain 
The department of Psychological and Brain Sciences cultivates various research opportunities in-house. Some are restricted to Psych majors, others are not. See especially their Research Listing.

 

Wash U Office of Neuroscience
The Wash U Office of Neuroscience Research Message Board posts a variety of things, some relevant to undergraduates.

The Washington University Office of Undergraduate Research also posts some things, and it can in some cases provide funding to support you in doing your own research.

The Washington University Center for Career Engagement can help you look for internships and other experiences that will be useful for the next stage of your professional life, and they can help you find work after you complete your degree:

 

WashU Endure
WashU Endure trains undergraduates from all backgrounds who seek to become brain scientists. They prepare the next generation of neuroscientists by combining outstanding research training, a rigorous curriculum and an empowering support system so participants thrive on their path to graduate school and beyond. Stipends are available to support student research.

 

WASHU NEUROPREP
Washington University Neuroprep is a two-year post-baccalaureate program to ready recent college grads for graduate training in Neuroscience. This program is geared toward individuals who had limited opportunity for research experience as undergraduates.

 

Off-campus Resources

 St. Louis University
If you are looking to stay in town, you might be able to volunteer in a Psych lab at St. Louis University.

 

 American Psychological Association
And if you’re interested in going out of town, the American Psychological Association has information on various undergraduate research opportunities.

 

The Simons Foundation
The Simons Foundation has a history of making undergraduate research fellowships available in the St. Louis area.

 

The Dana Foundation 
The Dana Foundation Career Network in Neuroscience and Society is another place to look for internships, research assistant positions, etc., in neuroscience specifically.

 

The Flux Society
The Flux Society (“for advancing the science of brain and cognitive development through interdisciplinary collaboration”) has information about research positions, grad school, and other things related to the brain and cognition.

 

The Amgen Scholars
The Amgen Scholars is an Undergraduate Summer Research Program in Science and Biotechnology; they have programs around the world, including here at Wash U
